The Johannesbad Fachklinik Furth im Wald is relying on an evidence-based VR system for its new “mindfulness room,” which, as an approved medical device, enables innovative stress reduction at the touch of a button. According to the study “Multi-session virtual reality relaxation for mental health staff” (Martland et al., 2025, King’s College London), published on ScienceDirect, Magic Horizons’ VR programs have been proven to improve relaxation, stress levels, and well-being in everyday working life. This makes them an effective digital health tool for modern occupational health management.
“A space where employees can spend their breaks in peace was a clearly expressed wish from our staff,” explains Doris Plötz, who is responsible for the clinic’s occupational health management. Previous employee surveys and internal analyses had also shown that there was an urgent need for specific opportunities to retreat during the working day. Building on this, the clinic now offers regular, low-threshold moments of relaxation that can be easily integrated into breaks. The room is designed in such a way that both the VR applications and the environment contribute to calm, regeneration, and mental relief. Especially in the demanding clinical environment, this creates an immediately available balance to growing professional stress.
